Controversy of Asia's Music Gods
Music perfection, vocal abilities, stage performance bliss that cannot be compared with and fans that cannot be counted makes TVXQ stay as Asia's pop idols.
Teenager's Idols
For 6 years going through this career, Xiah, Micky, Hero, Max & U-Know still remain idols for millions of teenagrs from Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia & Singapore, also the rest of the world. Like their name that brings the meaning "Rising Gods of The East", TVXQ are also looked as as Music Gods [OMG, how true XD] that are great at ruling the stage in Asia. Their name isn't just known for a succesful vocal group, but also known as a group that has a cult status who are the most influeantial and have fans so many that they cannot be counted.[you can bet on that!! XD]
Relevance
During the end of last year, TVXQ came back to go through music survival once again with a new album, "MIROTIC". The 4th Korean Album managed to prove that TVXQ is still relecant and loved by many. 3 days after it came out, more than 500 000 copies of "MIROTIC" were sold at once making the most wanted/demanded album in Korea. They also managed to win "Best Album 2008" in MKMF Korean Festival Music Awards with this album.
Seperate
From that, a sticker saying "cannot be bought by those under 19" was sticked on to each MIROTIC album in Korea and the album was put in different racks from other albums. [*cries* SAD PART!!] Not having enough, the Korean Government [it says 'pesuruhjaya'. No exact name... so, basically it's KOREAN GOVERNMENT-SSHI] asked every stage performance that included the song MIROTIC must be performed after 10pm. Still, the Korean Government asked SM Ent. come out with a Clean Version of MIROTIC.
Hindered
Still, TVXQ's success was said to be hindered when the Commision of Youth Protection under Korean Health, Welfare and Family Building Ministry made the discision of banning MIROTIC. That song was clasified from that commision as a recording that is unmoral and has lyrics that are provocotive and have too many elements of sex. [THAT'S SO WRONG!!]
Wrong interpretation [YOU GOT THAT RIGHT, MISTER!!]
Acording to my source, in the beginning, the controversy sparked because of wrong interpretation towards the lyrics "I got you/under my skin". The Commision of Youth Protection's opinion that the lyrics clearly, symbolically meant porn.[currently killing my laptop's keyboard typing out what the FREAKING OPINIONS ARE!! ><] Even though SM Ent. have tried explaining, including coming out with the lyrics explanation, the commision were still stubborn [not the exact word they used. XD] and doing actions against it aying the song was porny and not suitable for public. [KILLING KEYBOARD!!]
New Version
As a result of that, MIROTIC was banned and a new version was born [dramatically speaking ^^] with the lyrics "I choose you/under my sky" [killing keyboard again!!]. SM Ent have made 3 versions of the album, ver. A, B and C. "The meaning of the lyrics in the song MIROTIC really is very different from the elements of porn or sexuality as the commision has interpreted it as," said the spokesman for the label who also run a few other famous artists in Korea including BoA, Super Junior and SHINee [OMG, all my loves mentioned in one article~ YAY XD]
Spread
The unsatisfied fans of TVXQ spread in an online forum named Agora [remind me to go Google that one day. edited: can't find it >.<]. As many as 15,959 fans was said to sign a petition [BRING TVXQ TO MALAYSIA!! lol.] against the commision's decisions. Those unsatisfied fans going against the commision made a hot debate between fans come out. The debates were said to be inclinded dispute implementation and bundled Korean government in filtering local artists songs.
Against
Continued from the case, SM Ent was said to accept the conditions given by the commision. BUT, they brought the case to the court [OH YEAH BABY] thinking that the conditions weren't fair. "We agreed to release a clean version of MIROTIC as orders from the authoroties. But, we didn't agree with any actions from the commision. We have brought this case to the court going against the commision." said the spokesman of SM Ent.
Unsatisfied [ISH!! << mad comment]
The actions of the Commision of Youth Protection looked like it didn't just bring out unsatisfication from SM Ent. At the same time, it brought out unsatisfication of many fans in Korea. [INCLUDING MOI =.=**] As soon as the banning on MIROTIC was official, tons of angry messages from fans filled the commision's website EVERY DAY [GOOD JOB, GIRLS!!]. Many from the messages regreted the actions taken on TVXQ and dispute credibility towards the commision in doing their jobs.
Issue
The issue of banning songs in Korea isn't some thing new. Only last year, 108 songs were reported banned and taken action against because they were assessed as breaking the Laws of Youth Protection. Even so, the issue became hot because the banning of songs this time included two very popular singers, Rain and TVXQ. Only, Rain and his company maid the dicision to follow what they were asked to do and SM Ent, the other way around.
