SMAP'S Leader: “Asia’s Super Group Who Was Born In Korea
Click for more
Tohoshinki sang their first ORICON weekly topped song, Purple Line and followed by another ORICON weekly winner どうして君を好きになってしまったんだろ, created a great stage, eventhough it’s their first appearance at Kohaku’s stage, the boys got big applause and cheering from the crowd.

SMAP’s leader, Masahiro Nakai who was the moderator of White Team (red team was led by Nakama Yukie) introduced Tohoshinki as: “An Asia’s super group who was born in Korea”.

Actually the line is not really a big deal, since it’s not the first time Japanese artist said it at Japan music programs. However, as it came from the leader of Japan’s top group SMAP not to mention it’s also said during one of the most precious event in Japan, it becomes headlines in Korean news.

-----

Sekine Tsutomu, a Japanese popular comedian who is known as Tohoshinki’s big fan sent a happy message to his daughter Sekine Marie, who became the MC of last night Kohaku Uta Gassen to see such great performance by the boys on Kohaku’s stage. Marie told the audiences herself during the show.

After Tohoshinki ended their performance, at the backstage:

“It was the best stage. Unfortunately it’s too short, next year we hope to stand again on the stage and give it another try.” Micky Yoochun of Tohoshinki said. While words from Xiah Junsu, “It’s like a dream comes true, we’re a little nervous,” (Yunho also said something but I don’t get this part, sorry.)

White wins!!
Click for more
The white team (male team) wins the Kohauku night!

Kohauku (Kohaku) Uta Gassen has a line of 10 judges from variety of fields which for this year judges are:

Norika Fujiwara and Tomonori Jinnai (celebrities), Aoi Miyazaki and Yui Aragaki (artists), Isao Aoki and Momoko Ueda (golfers), Hideki Okajima (baseball star), Kanzaburo Nakamura XVIII (kabuki actor), Kenichiro Mogi (neuroscientist), and Mariko Bando (Showa Women’s University president).

-Tokyograph-

However, the judges are not ones who decide the winner team. In the end, it’s the viewers who can vote for the team they believe should win. I’m quite sure Bigeast has something to do with the winning of White Team this year ^^

As for the previous Kohauku winners…. well, it’s been 4 consecutive years for the White Team to take the spotlight including this year:

2000: Red
2001: White
2002: Red
2003: White
2004: Red
2005: White
2006: White
2007: White

A very good show and winning to end up the year, boys!! We’ll wait for another great news for you!!!

I'm kinda happy that White won cause TVXQ's in there... But, then again, I believe in Girl Power... XD ahhh well~ Congratulations!! XD

----------------------------

The audience ratings for NHK's 59th Kohaku Uta Gassen have been announced. Ratings were up from last year, reaching 35.7% for the first half and 42.1% for the second half.

The news was a welcome change, as the past two years had dipped below the 40% mark. The second half of the show had ratings of 39.8% in 2006 and 39.5% in 2007, which are the 3rd and 2nd worst performances in the show's history.

The first half ratings were also an improvement, climbing up from 30.6% in 2006 and 32.8% in 2007.

This Kohaku Uta Gassen was the fourth consecutive victory for the White Team (male artists), bringing their overall total record to 31 wins and 28 losses. It was a convincing win, as the White Team received nearly 206,000 votes compared to the Red Team's 112,000.

International fans who want to attend Japan tour
Click for more
I doubt it will happen since a flight to Japan would be partially impossible... T_T.

for international fans who want to get tickets to tohoshinki's japan tour, there are a few options:

1) if you know anyone living in japan, ask them to get tickets for you. you will have a higher chance of getting tickets if you have a bigeast friend since fanclub members get first dibs.

2) www.fdjp.com : "a buying agent for consumers living outside of japan." before you ask about concert tickets, read this.

please note that it is very difficult to buy tickets of very popular events such as Sumo, concert of very popular artists like B'z, Ayumi Hamasaki, L'Arc-en-Ciel, Tohoshinki, and singers who belong to Johnnys entertainment (KAT-TUN, ARASHI) ,etc.

if you really want good tickets of such hot events/concerts, you have to buy them from resell markets
And it goes without saying that prices of resold tickets are much higher than original/official ones.

3) www.rinkya.com : Rinkya houses a self-contained bidding system where the user can sign up for a Rinkya account and bid on their own, real-time, on Yahoo Japan and purchase from online Japan stores. (this one seems a bit confusing tbh but seems to be less expensive than option #2.)

The only way I hear that you can get concert tickets if you live outside Japan is through fdjp.com, yahoo-auctions or rinkya.com, crescent shop or ccmelon websites. All of those either bid for you on auctions for tickets or get those tickets for you directly. I am not sure how popular THSk is in Japan but they added six more shows so there should be plenty of tickets to buy.

I got my tix @ Osaka venue via FDJP, unfortunately the auctions or through the sites can be quite expensive though as they are re-sold tickets from Fan clubs.

If you really want tohoshinki concert tickets and you're an overseas fan go to fdjp.com and they'll help you get tickets within your price range. Just don't expect them to get you tickets for 7000 yen like at the original prices. This is the most expensive way to go but the most secure because a lot of fans from the Ayumi Hamasaki forum have used fdjp.com and they never have any problems. I also put in an order for their concert in Yokohama. Or if you want to go through yahoo auctions for cheaper tickets you could use rinkya.com or ccmelon to help bid for you and send the winning tickets to you.

if you guys have anymore questions... make a new topic on the japan-guide forum and maybe someone can help. before buying tickets, make sure the dates and locations are confirmed! the ones posted in this thread may or may not be true, nothing has been confirmed yet. it's too early to buy tickets.. but just a heads up to those who are planning to attend the tour.

... Get parents permission before buying a ticket if you are still living with them. ^^
